CMC, Inc. is a third-generation mechanical contractor based in Gap, Pennsylvania. What began as a small family-owned hardware, plumbing and heating business has grown into a full-service commercial mechanical construction company serving clients across the region. Today, we’re fully insured, bonded, and equipped to deliver complex plumbing, piping, and HVAC installations for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.
Our history is built on hard work, craftsmanship, and long-standing relationships. Many of our employees have been with us for decades, and their dedication has shaped the cooperative, team-focused culture we’re known for. The trust we’ve earned from general contractors, owners, suppliers, and partners continues to fuel our growth and guide how we operate.
Our Journey
On February 1, 1942, William S. Horst took over George T. Sellers’ Sons Hardware, Farm Equipment, Plumbing, and Heating business in Gap, PA.
Linford’s sons, Christopher and Oliver Horst, grew up working alongside their father and uncle, making them proud third-generation contractors in the family business.
In 1995 Chris officially began working in the business, continuing the Horst legacy. Oliver joined his father and brother, strengthening the family’s role in the company in 2002.
In 2010, Linford Horst retired, closing a remarkable chapter of family leadership and passing the torch to his sons. In 2016, Steve Beiler retired, marking the end of a long standing partnership that helped shaped CMC’s growth and identity.
Chris and Oliver Horst purchased the business, officially becoming the third generation to lead CMC, Inc.

Eric Hodgdon
Eric Hodgdon – Director of Operations, Corporate Secretary, and Co-Owner of CMC, began his career here in 1996 as an apprentice and steadily worked his way through the ranks — advancing to journeyman, then foreman, and eventually into estimating, project management, and senior leadership. Some of his favorite memories come from his years in the field and the camaraderie built on job sites. Known as CMC’s resident problem-solver and the go-to source for anything related to code, Eric brings deep experience and steady leadership to the team.
Outside of work, Eric, his wife, and daughter enjoy spending time with family, cooking, hiking, and canoeing. Eric loves playing bluegrass music on his mandolin.
Bruce Shenk
Bruce Shenk – Project Manager and Safety Director, who has over two decades of experience in mechanical construction management and safety oversight. His hands-on leadership style promotes project excellence, regulatory adherence, and a culture of safety across all operations.
When he’s not working, Bruce enjoys spending time with his wife, Ruth, and their chocolate lab, Blu—whether it’s taking walks, going on hikes, or traveling.
